Why are some people able to rise to the occasion during the biggest sports moments or when the chips are down, and others cannot? Take the Super Bowl for instance. How is it that Adam Vinatieri as a member of the New England Patriots can kick not just one, but two game-winning field goals in separate Super Bowls, yet Scott Norwood, misses a field goal to lose Super Bowl XXV for the Buffalo Bills? Both athletes are in the NFL for a reason. They both put in massive amounts of practice time. Yet when it matters most, we have two distinctly different results.
The reason is simple. While athletes, students, musicians, parents etc. always are telling themselves the things that they should do…sometimes it is just as important to focus on the things you should not do. That begs the question then, what is the #1 thing you shouldn’t do during the biggest moment? Find out in the video above where Dr. Rob Gilbert and I discuss this topic and the effects it can have if you, “Don’t Do This.”
