One of the biggest keys to improving your speed and quickness at the Parisi Speed School is to make sure you practice at home. It is important that you continue to work on your game outside of your classes in order for you to gain maximum results. The good news is that you don’t need a lot of space or time to do so. In this month’s training tip, I’m going to show you how to accomplish all of the above by incorporating, “Line Jumps,” into your at home routine…you just need a couple pieces of tape.
In the video above, my son Will and I take you through six different progressions of the Line Jump exercise. I first start off with a couple basic tips and techniques. To get started, find a flat surface and rip off a couple pieces of heavy tape to make an X. Next, you want to get into an athletic position and stand in the bottom left box. Make sure you are bending at the ankles, knees, and hips. It is important that when performing line jumps you are light on your feet and absorb the ground contact with all three joints. Do not crash down on each jump and do not try to keep your legs straight. Also, make sure you are just moving your legs. Try and maintain your center gravity in a natural center position. Do your best not to move your whole body on each jump.
Now you have the video and some tips on proper technique but it’s up to you to take the time and include it as a part of your home routine. I guarantee if you commit the time to work on your quickness at home, as well as at your Parisi Speed School, your game will improve to the next level.
