When most parents and kids think of injuries or conditions that face a young athlete, they gravitate toward the obvious concerns such as ankle injuries, ACL tears and concussions. While any of these aforementioned ailments can have a devastating effect, one ailment that can be just as detrimental but is more often than not overlooked, is Osgood-Schlatter. In this month’s installment of our Atlantic Health Sports Medicine Series, Bill and Dr . Tim Leier of Atlantic Sports Health take an in-depth look at what Osgood-Schlatter is, how it is treated and most importantly, what can be done to prevent it.
