The Law of Repeated Exposure

November 17, 2022 //  by Parisi School//  Leave a Comment

When Bill Parisi jumped in his $500 van 30 years ago, I don’t think he knew that the company he started would grow to educate not only athletes, but Sports Performance Coaches as well.

The backbone of the Parisi Speed School has always been to make athletes high performers in their sport – to improve their speed, their strength, and confidence by way of physical training.

But what about the Performance Coaches who work with those athletes every step of the way?

The Parisi Speed School has become a go-to for developing the skills of Performance Coaches as well.

You see, Coach, when you perform an action day in and day out, when you are immersed in the topics you explain, teach, and review daily, you fall into the learning by the law of repeated exposure.

I was first introduced to this phrase when Bill Parisi presented at my first-ever Parisi Coaching Certification. I asked Bill how he was able to recite and explain everything with such detail. His reply was “when you do it every day for 20 years, it becomes a part of you” and he went on to explain how it would happen to me too, through the law of repeated exposure.

So how can you improve your ability to coach and deliver speed training?

There’s two clear cut ways.

The first way, and this is the way we do it with our Sports Performance Mentorship, is to research, react, and recite. The three “R’s” to develop your educational prowess. You can find the latest research, react and understand the said research topic, then proceed to implement those findings in your own coaching practice.

The second way, which tends to be more engaging and ‘fun’, is to be on the receiving end and experience the subject matter/content first hand. In this case, it’s to be COACHED by the expert. This is what we do in our performance training program, Train To Win. The added learning in this case is that you experience the subject matter just like your athletes, you are on the COACHED side of speed training.

The law of exposure might be the most powerful learning tool at your disposal. From a Parisi Speed School side, we want you to be immersed in speed training from both sides, as the Performance Coach, and as the receiving athlete.

To make it easy for you, we have a 7-day free trial of our Performance Program, Train To Win. This program will allow you to see individual movements, review daily programming, see how each day lays out in a comprehensive week/month. Three critical factors that will help you write better programs for your athletes. The bonus? You get some awesome programming for YOU to do along the way!
