I wanted to pause and remind everyone what Parisi is really about, on the deepest level. Sure, we will absolutely make your child a better athlete: faster, stronger, quicker. But none of that matters if they don’t feel confident in themselves.
Without confidence, they will not be able to perform on the sports field. I remind our coaches every day what this is really about, and I encourage you to engage with your child to get a feel for how confident they really are. Be realistic in your assessment.
Almost all athletes that train will not do this professionally. Most won’t even go on to play in college. And many will stop before high school. But self confidence lasts a lifetime.
The most amazing moments I have had in 9 years as a coach have been when an athlete inevitably has a bad day and just needs to take time out to talk. We’ll sit on the turf and they can vent whatever they need. That type of attention can go a lot further sometimes than a tough training session. An athlete will give more after a moment like that.
It’s why myself and all the staff refer to ourselves as “Coaches” and not just “Trainers.” Speed, agility, strength, and most importantly, self confidence. It’s what Parisi Franklin Lakes is all about.
