We call ourselves the Parisi SPEED SCHOOL because we can teach speed better than anyone
and have delivered this coaching to athlete’s of all ages and ability levels since 1993 (And more specifically, I (Cory) have worked with athletes for nearly 10 years.)
Acceleration is defined as the ability to reach maxium speed in the shortest distance or time possible. We teach four focal points to acceleration as well:
-
Body at a 45 degree angle.
-
Proper arm action (90 degrees, chin to pocket.)
-
Hips forward and up.
-
Forward knee drive (and back leg extension.)
Understanding what acceleration is, and the key techniques behind it, will go a long way to making your childfaster and a better overall athlete.
Some of the best drills to reinforce acceleration (and hopefully you have seen your athlete practice these at home) are:
-
Wall drives
-
Push-up starts
-
Falling starts
-
Two point stance starts
-
Arm action
-
Resistance sprints
