Anyone who has been going to the gym for any amount of time has heard of the big three lifts, and if you haven’t then let me explain them real quick.
The most popular of the big three would have to be the bench press, an exercise a lot of weight lifters use to measure how strong they are. Squats are number two on the list and may be the best to build overall strength throughout the whole body. Finally, we have the dead lift (my personal favorite) which, when done right, can increase strength and size throughout the whole body.
It has been proven that when these exercises are implemented into a training program the body releases testosterone throughout the whole body. Each of these exercises works more than one muscle group at a time, and when combined together can be a great total body workout. Forget machines and fancy exercises, making sure that you implement these big three exercises correctly into a training program will help you pack on both size and strength. The squat and dead lift are both great exercises to build your core strength, and when you build up the core you build up strength in the rest of your body, and can transfer power more effectively from your lower to upper body. These three exercises are not the end all be all, but when done right can help you make huge steps in the weight training world. If you haven’t yet start plugging these exercises into your program, and be ready to be a stronger, more powerful athlete.
