2019 Outstanding Outreach Award – POW Chicago

April 9, 2019 //  by Parisi School//  Leave a Comment

Join us in congratulating POW Chicago as the 2019 Best Practice Award Winner for Outstanding Outreach. Since opening their doors in 2001, and launching Parisi in 2016, POW Chicago’s consistent delivery of a high-quality experience has helped them thrive in a market where other boutique gyms have failed. Owner, Katalin Rodriguez-Ogren, attributes this success to being an active part of their community and consistent messaging. These efforts, paired with a plan to follow through, has helped POW Chicago establish an unshakeable foothold in their community.

Katalin knew that in order for her business to grow, the whole community needs to grow, so she does her part by serving as President of the West Loop Community Organization, which steers programs that will impact the community and provides Katalin invaluable connections.

When launching both POW and Parisi, she did anything and everything to be involved, but now that she has established both brands in her area, she can be more strategic in her outreach and what they take on. To this day, POW Chicago is actively involved with Habitat for Humanity, blood drives, pet rescues, veteran groups and other community organizations that allow the team to stay closely connected to their part of Chicago.

And when Katalin and her team perform outreach and marketing, they make sure they get their message across. On social media, they always include messaging with their videos, so nothing is taken out of context. When it comes to oral and written communication, she wants her team to highlight their professional knowledge, in order to show athletes and parents how they are a different caliber of coach compared to others in the industry. They aren’t into parlor tricks at POW and want to be sure they come across as authentic

Lastly, Katalin claims her secret power is “follow through.” She consistently follows through on her plans and when a goal is set, she always sees it through.

“You have to be a doer because it’s not enough to be a thinker,” says Katalin. “What makes a great athlete? They execute and follow through. Athletes have a vision, then a dream, then a plan, then they accomplish and execute.”

It’s all of these traits that have allowed her outreach to have more of an impact and the results speak for themselves. Athletes, parents and coaches feel great about coming to POW because it is more than just a business; it’s a part of the fabric of the community.

So again, let’s congratulate POW Chicago on winning the 2019 Best Practice Award for Outstanding Outreach. Your active engagement with your customers and community, paired with your planning and prioritization skills and never-ending appetite for continued education have shown the entire Parisi network what it takes to excel.
